Happy Halloween!

Gordy, Beau, & I celebrated Halloween at the Buening house this weekend. Beau was a tiger (Gordy would say he was the Cincinnati Bengals mascot).

7 Weeks and eating like his Dad!

Beau is 7 weeks old today! We are still working on sleeping more at night, he still gets up twice. Last night he ate 10 ounces of formula before bed! We don't even have bottles that big.

6 Weeks

Beau is 6 weeks old! He is starting to smile more everyday!

5 Weeks and Growing!

Beau was 5 weeks old the last day of September. We went to the doctor on Monday and he was 10 lbs 13 ozs and 22 inches long. That makes him 75 percentile in weight and 60 percentile in height.

Date Night...

Gordy and I had our first outing together since Beau was born. We went to St. Elmo's to celebrate our 3 year anniversay. I know...3 years already. I had my first beer in 11 months and it was A-M-A-Z-I-N-G! Okay that makes me sound like an alcoholic...but I only had one I promise.

Gordy actually got the porterhouse instead of the prime rib at St. Elmo's. It was a surprising move since the porterhouse is only 24 ozs and the prime rib is 32 ozs. I went with the standard filet. We also had to get dessert (which is my absolute fav) NY style cheesecake with raspberry puree.

Now back to the diet (wait I mean lifestyle change)...

Beau had a great time as well with Grandma Kurtz and Aunt Pam. However, I think he has now figured out if he cries he gets to be held. We need to work on that one.

4 Weeks Old!

Here is Beau at 4 weeks! He is feeling much better as well.

Our Trip to the Emergency Room

In addition to all the things Beau and I did last week, you can add a trip to the ER. Thursday morning the little guy woke up with a stuffy nose and was breathing extremely fast. I called the pediatrician thinking they would tell me he just has a cold - no need to come in. However, the doctor got us in in 40 minutes and she ended up sending us to the ER for chest X-rays.

Luckily the chest X-ray and EKG came back fine, so then I though, great we can go home. Nope, the doctor decided we should stay all night for observation. There is nothing like seeing your baby hooked up to monitors all evening which makes you appreciate life even more. Beau did well overnight, his oxgen levels, heart rate, and respiratory levels seem to be good enough for us to go home on Friday morning.

Thanks to Gammaw Buening for coming up Friday afternoon to take care of Beau while Gordy and I had the best 3 hours of sleep in our lives. Beau seems to be doing okay, but I can tell you we will be home bodies for the next few weeks.

Finally another post...

Beau is growing like a weed! After deciding to give the little guy some formula, he has been gaining weight like it is his job. In the past week, we have visited Grandma Kurtz and Aunt Pam, took a trip to the mall with Gammaw Buening (which will be one of many), and managed to go to El Campestre for the Wednesday special. Below are a few new pictures of the little guy.

Beau Gordon Kurtz has arrived!

Showers & More Showers

Gordy and I are so lucky to have such great family, friends, & colleagues to help us celebrate and get ready for Baby Beau's arrival. My sister-in-laws (Erin, Susan, & Stephanie) along with my mom had an amazing shower for us last weekend. What would a Buening get together be without lots of good yet not so healthy food? My brother, Ben, fried up some of his specialty chicken and my dad smoked some spectacular pulled pork (probably the best batch ever, right dad?). Below you will see several snapshots from the shower compliments of Erin!

My niece, Erica, was so excited to help us open gifts. She was so patient and so cute!

Gordy is proudly holding Beau's first Bengals tee. However, my mom had to go out and buy some Colt's attire yesterday to compensate. And so it begins...

Check out the sweatshirt that Gordy's mom gave us. Can you believe #1 - Gordy was ever small enough to wear that sweatshirt and #2 - that Barb has saved it for 27 years? I can't wait till Beau can wear it (sorry Buening family...I am aware that it has the Cincinnati Bengals emblem on it).

Of course, a baby shower isn't complete without a diaper cake, compliments of Susan!

Other spectators of the shower, Aunt Diane, Cousin Katie, Grandma Moeller, and the newest addition to the family, my handsome nephew Max!

This week the Pedcor crew threw a shower for Gordy and I. My friend Taylor did so much work! Check out the diaper cake she made. I unfortunately didn't have my camera at work but they went all out. They all pitched in and got us our travel system! I think we are just about ready for Beau to get here, at least I hope so!

BKD Shower!

The BKD gals threw an awesome shower for Beau and I yesterday. They are so generous and creative with their diaper cake, bubbly punch, and the actual cake. They also had a brunch theme with breakfast casserole, french toast casserole, and fruit. A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!

Lindsey has definitely got this down to a science.

Thanks to Carrie, we had awesome bubbly punch and cake that tasted amazing. I think next summer I am going to join her in some cake decorating classes. She definitely has me beat.

I am so lucky to have met such great friends while working at BKD. Sometimes I wish we all could go back....wait that was totally out of line. Let me just say, I wish we could all work together again.

Hands & Feet

So I have posted this picture in hopes that you will laugh with me and not at me. Apparently at 32 weeks pregnant, your feet begin to swell. In my whole closet full of shoes, I now only own 3 pairs that still fit my feet. I was in denial about the severe swelling until my boss said, "Geez your feet are getting really big." Maybe my feet just look big from the camera angle (okay that is still denial, I know).

Finally another random post.

So for all my blog watchers, I am sorry I have been non-existent for the last month. This week I am officially 7 months pregnant and huge. Nothing really very exciting has happened in the last month or so except for buying a new refrigerator. I know, I know, watch out, if the Kurtz's get any crazier they would have a reality TV show. On a side note, Gordy and I have just about finished Beau's room, we just need to do the finishing touches. Check out the recent pictures below.

MAX is here!!!

Finally - my new nephew has arrived and finally I have a post strictly dedicated to him! Max Benjamin Buening arrived on May 19, 2009 at 9:20 AM (a week late) and weighed 8 lbs 7 oz, 22 inches long. Check out the pictures, he is such an adorable baby (not to mention those long legs)!

Look at those blue eyes! No way they are changing with his genes.





It seems as though all Buening babies have been late or on their due date. Is it wishful thinking that Baby Kurtz will come early?
